Meet the Teachers

Miss Kaitlyn and Kokomo at Mt. Evans (Elevation: 14,000ft) Colorado

Hello! I'm a recent graduate of St. Ambrose University, where I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Special Education. I worked at the St. Ambrose Children's Campus during my time at St. Ambrose, and over the summer I worked for the Rock Island Regional Office of Education as a preschool teacher at Skip-A-Long Child Development Center in Moline, Il. I student taught at Children's Village Hoover in Spring of 2011 so I'm pretty familiar with the Villages.
When I'm not teaching, I am usually riding my bike, rollerblading, running or walking my dog, Kokomo. I also like to scrapbook, hang out with my family and friends, bake, and visit Colorado. I am so excited to get to know the children and families of Ladybug Lane.

Hello! I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you. But here is a little about me. I have grown up here in Davenport, IA and graduated from West High School is 2009. From there I attended Scott Community College and have my Associates of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education. I have worked down at Children’s Village Hayes for the after school program PEP since June 2009. Then in 2010 I worked as a substitute Para educator for the school district. I subbed long tern in Ladybug Lane from November 2011 until May 2012 when I became a full time in a room that I am very glad to work in.
When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my 2 year old nephew. I enjoy spending time with my dog and going for long walks, but most of all I love teaching.

Hello, I'm Kathy Schaefer and I am a para in Ladybug Lane. I have been employed at Children's Village Hayes for 10 years. I am married to "Farmer Randy." I have 3 sons, Ryan who is 31 years old and a veterinarian in Walcott, Ia, and Richard who is 30 years old and an accountant at HON in Muscatine, IA. Richard has a wife, Lindsay and they have 10 month old daughter, Olivia (picture above). Yes, I am a grandmother! And my youngest son is Rhett. He is 20 years old and is a junior at UW Plattville and studying civil engineering.
I have lived on a farm all my life. I was raised on a hog and cattle farm for 22 years. Randy and I now live on a dairy where we milk 50 cows, raise 50 laying chickens and have 20 farm cats and 1 dog.
When I am not at school I help "Farmer Randy" milk cows and work in my flower and vegetable garden. I love to back cookies, pies and desserts. I especially enjoy being a "mom" and most of all a grandmother!
